I hate New Year's Eve. But I love lists!
The long and short of why would take a composition notebook full of my bitching. But the Reader’s Digest version is that I have had only TWO good ones since I was 9. That means that in the past 15 years, I’ve had 13 bad NYEs. Highlights include:
1998, when my fake-ass middle school boyfriend and I broke up and he spent midnight alternating screaming at me and making out with my...

Obligatory Christmas recap!
Blame the belatedness on the dual snow day madness, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Christmas Eve was spent with Andrew and his family for the first time! Andrew’s aunt and uncle and four cousins came from Brooklyn, as well as his brother and sister-in-law and two nieces and nephew. After the exchanging of presents, we enjoyed a traditional Christmas Eve dinner… of McDonalds.

Christmas wish #1: Check!
I don’t talk much about my family on here. I don’t know why. They’re a pretty crucial part of my everyday. So, without further ado, as far as backstory goes: My parents are divorced, and after college I moved back home with my mom. My sister Chelsea lives here when she’s not at college. The three of us are incredibly close. My mom is my best friend. It’s...

True Confession Tuesday
Inspired by recent theater bullshit, starting up again ALREADY.
As a stage manager, one of my jobs is to take measurements for the actors so we have them for the costume designer/consultant. This is always kind of uncomfortable, as I’m shoving a tape measure into actors’ crotches and asking for their weight and pant size (and judging them when they lie), but we’re all theater...

I just baked for 14 hours.
I took a half hour break to eat a sandwich and another half hour break to run to ShopRite. Then I was forced to take an hour break to eat dinner because my crinkle cookie dough was setting.
But I’ve pretty much been going straight since then.
The final roster:
classic chocolate chip cookies
my snickerdoodles that everyone always asks for
Pillsbury sugar cookies with a cute Christmas...

New blanket rule:
Any movie with “Let My Love Open The Door” or whatever that song is called in the trailer, will be completely terrible.
The only ones I’m thinking of are Dan in Real Life and How Do You Know, but I’m sure there are many others.

A day in the life of Winter Break Lili:
I finished The Book Thief and cried like a baby. I know I’m slightly behind the times with this book, but if you haven’t read it already, you need to. It’s one of the most beautifully written books I’ve ever read and by far the best I’ve read this year. (I will admit that I have a weird obsession with World War II literature, specifically Holocaust books, but this...

Two unrelated pieces of advice needed!
1) On a lighter note: I have a really weird extended family. My grandfather remarried a woman with three sons, so I have three step-uncles, one step-aunt, one former step-aunt who I’m still very close to (divorcing my step-uncle), and five step-cousins. We all good? Great.
Long story short, youngest step-uncle Steve, who nobody really likes, married this woman with these two truly vile...

WOW. Slow news day.

CHELSEA PLEASE
Just because you are home on winter break does NOT MEAN it is appropriate to commandeer the remote or, more importantly, make out with your boyfriend on the couch in the living room through which I have to pass to get to my room.
TAKE IT TO YOUR ROOM. I did not want to see that shit.
It’s going to be a long month. Alternately, I need to move out.

Winter Break Book List
HOORAY FINALLY READING FOR FUN AGAIN!
Finishing: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson Thin is the New Happy by Valerie Frankel (maybe. I don’t really like it, and it was a bargain bin find, so I may just abandon it.)
Then reading: The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins Consider Lily by Anne Dayton and May Vanderbilt (Kayla read this one and...

First ever baking disaster.
I baked two things today for my aunt’s Jets-watching-Christmas party mashup: these cinnamon pecan banana cups that I saw in a dream but had no recipe for, and red velvet swirl brownies.
Guess which one screwed up?
Yeah, I wouldn’t have either. The cups came out deliciously (taste more appropriate for breakfast, honestly, so I’ll have to keep them in mind the next time I do...

For the record...
Chelsea and I were both told our boyfriends couldn’t come to the show today, but not only was my.niece allowed to opt out (never even a passing option for us), BUT my brother the prodigal son brought his new girlfriend AND the girlfriend’s kid who we’ve never met.
I need some Christmas spirit(s) right now.

My life, in re: weddings.
andthenitsperfect:
i may start a running tally of times i would like to say “THAT IS NOT A GOOD REASON TO GET ENGAGED/MARRIED” and cannot.
and dont bullshit me people, you know i cant actually ever say that.
Last dashboard spam of the night, but it’s necessary because I think this about once a month these days. That’s far too often.
